If you like the idea of an outdoor obstacle course race but aren’t sure what to expect, our Obstacle Taster sessions are the perfect introduction. Get ready for lots of laughter, a bit of mud, and an amazing feeling of accomplishment, all safely in the knowledge that you’re in the hands of expert guidance.

The 2km Obstacle Taster is designed for anyone aged 6 + years who want to experience a short, enjoyable introduction to obstacle racing.

Discover a mixture of climbing, hanging, and crawling challenges across a selection of beginner friendly obstacles. You’ll be guided by a dedicated instructor around the course, ensuring a safe, supportive experience for everyone.

Expect plenty of laughs, a splash of mud, and a great sense of achievement, all of which can be rounded off at our fire pit at the end of the session – don’t forget your sticks and marshmallows! 

All fitness levels welcome.

Our 3km Obstacle Taster is aimed at those wanting to be challenged a little more and will jog / run the 3km course with your designated instructor.

You’ll still have the same mixture of climbing, hanging, and crawling obstacles, just more of them and with an emphasis on speed.

You’ll be guided by a dedicated instructor around the course, ensuring a safe, supportive experience for everyone.

Round the session off at our fire pit, so don’t forget to bring your marshmallows and sticks!

How can I raise money for a charity?
Sign up to one of our races, create your own bespoke event, or design a Wild Forest mud run — then share your fundraising page with your community.
Are spectators allowed out on the course?
At Nuclear Wild Forest, group bookings may bring a maximum of two spectators onto the course. This helps us ensure safety, keep the event running smoothly, and give participants the best possible experience.
What training do the Instructors have?
The lead instructors are all: Level 2 Gym Instructors or Personal Trainers Level 3 First Aid at Work Swim Safety Water Safety trained DBS checked Introduction to Safeguarding Gen Potential Training
What facilities are available at Nuclear Wild Forest?
The main building houses toilets, a disabled toilet, hot indoor wash-down facilities, and changing rooms. There are tea and coffee facilities, and a vending machine available. Party rooms and grass areas with a fire pit are available to hire after your activity.
Do you charge a parking fee?
Parking is free at all sites and events, apart from Nuclear Mud Tribe, which has a £5 parking fee per car. All parking is within a short walking distance.
How can I buy the Nuclear Merch?
You can buy this online or on the day. The Nuclear Essex shop will be on site at each event for you to purchase kit by cash or card.
Do children need to be able to swim?
Swimming is not required, buoyancy aids are available on race day. At Wild Forest, everyone is fitted with a buoyancy aid when they enter the lake zone.
What should I wear?
Wear fast-drying, breathable clothing and trail trainers with good grip. Avoid cotton and footwear without traction.
Do you supply food?
There are no catering facilities onsite. We recommend either bringing your own food or ordering Pizza to be delivered via Brentwood Dominoes. If you quote NUCLEAR they will give you up to 50% discount. The party organiser needs to make the order by phoning 01277 219999 the day before party.
